It is with great sadness that we have to announce that our dear colleague and friend, Florian Baier, died last week. 

In his short time working at Sonoton Music, Florian made such a positive impact on the company. He was an incredible engineer and producer, highly gifted technically but he also had that magic ingredient: feeling!

Having graduated from SAE Institute Frankfurt with a Bachelor of Recording Arts, he ran his own studio in Frankfurt working on hundreds of projects for music artists and TV companies before moving to Berlin. In Berlin, he worked at Phlexton Studios and The Arc Studios with artists VIZE, Kraans de Lutin, Abaz, Jan van der Toorn, Sido, Capital Bra, Prinz Pi, Edo Saiya, Blümchen, Kiki Cordalis, Michael Wendler, Jennifer Rostock to name a few. He continued as a Foley and voice over engineer working at Dubbing Brothers on projects including Guardians of The Galaxy 3, Manifest, Bobbleheads, El Silencio, A Girl and an Astronaut, Pokerface, Oscar-Nominated ‘Marcel the Shell with Shoes On’.

Florian achieved a lot in his career, perhaps the pinnacle were his production and writing credits which led to deals as a songwriter and producer with both Sony BMG & Universal Editions (DasMaschine). Which true to form, he was incredibly modest about.

In Florian, Sonoton found a star. He had great skill, experience and personality in abundance. He knew instinctively what was needed in any given situation. His upbeat nature, enthusiasm to make music, solve problems and share knowledge made him a pleasure to be around. He was a wonderful human being.

We are devastated by the news of Florian’s death but we are so incredibly thankful to have had the opportunity to have known him. We want to express our deepest condolences to his family, friends and any others that knew him.

Wir trauern um unseren Kollegen und Freund Florian Baier, der vergangenen Woche verstorben ist.

In seiner kurzen Zeit bei Sonoton Music hat Florian einen enormen positiven Beitrag für unser Unternehmen geleistet. Er war ein fantastischer Toningenieur und Produzent, technisch hochbegabt und er hatte ein intuitives Gespür für Musik.

Florian schloss 2011 sein Studium am SAE Institute Frankfurt mit einem Bachelor of Recording Arts ab. Er betrieb sein eigenes Studio in Frankfurt und arbeitete an hunderten von Projekten für Musiker und TV-Produktionsfirmen, bevor er nach Berlin zog. In Berlin arbeitete er bei den Phlexton und The Arc Studios mit Künstlern wie VIZE, Kraans de Lutin, Abaz, Jan van der Toorn, Sido, Capital Bra, Prinz Pi, Edo Saiya, Blümchen, Kiki Cordalis, Michael Wendler und Jennifer Rostock, um nur einige zu nennen.

Als Toningenieur für die Dubbing Brothers Gruppe arbeitete er an Projekten wie Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Manifest, Bobbleheads, El Silencio, A Girl and an Astronaut, Pokerface und dem Oscar-nominierten ‘Marcel the Shell with Shoes On’. Florian war als Songwriter und Produzent bei Sony BMG und Universal (Universal Editions – DasMaschine) unter Vertrag. Er hat in seiner Karriere viel erreicht und blieb dennoch stets bescheiden.

Florian war ein Star. Er hatte Talent, Erfahrung und Persönlichkeit im Überfluss. Er wusste instinktiv, was in der jeweiligen Situation gefragt war. Seine fröhliche Art und seine Begeisterung Musik zu machen, Probleme zu lösen und sein Wissen weiterzugeben, machten das tägliche Arbeiten mit zum Vergnügen. Er war ein wunderbarer Mensch. Wir werden ihn vermissen.

Wir sind erschüttert über Florians Tod. Unser tiefes Mitgefühl gilt seiner Familie, seinen Freunden und allen, die ihn kannten.
