New Release: Martina Bačová and Dominik Johnson – Female Classical Composers

A selection of much-loved works from female classical composers, played by all-female ensembles.

About the artists:

Martina Bačová:

Martina Bačová (b. 1982) ranks alongside the most distinctive members of the emerging generation of artists. As a soloist, she has appeared at prestigious festivals in the Czech Republic (Prague Spring, Saint Wenceslas Festivities, Mahler Festival in Jihlava) and internationally (Festival de Megève, Festival de Nancy, Festival de la Vézère, St. Gellert Festival). She is frequently invited to work with the Ostrava Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra, and with the Northern Bohemia Philharmonic Orchestra in Teplice. She has appeared with the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra and with various chamber ensembles, including Camerata Janáček, Czech Virtuosi, St. Gellert Academy, and others. She is a regular collaborator of Czech Radio and Czech Television.

Dominik Johnson:

“I’m a composer, producer and musician rolled into one. I create what I like to call ‘handcrafted soundtracks’ as most of my music is made using real, live acoustic instruments which I play myself.

I tend to focus and specialise in making music tailored towards documentary, drama and factual productions, as this is where my musical styles, experience and interests lie. My library music has provided the soundtrack to hundreds of well-known television shows in the UK and US over the years, and I help score the odd feature film now and then – most recently La Novia (2015) which won two Goya Awards.”
