Need a mutton-chopped cut that oozes machismo and every bad male-centric stereotype? Leather-clad, commanding and buzzier than a T-Mobile connection, this mid-tempo, swaggering 70s-esque Rock cut takes a simple, catchy electric guitar and bass-driven riff and repeats it, over and over. And over. Adds driving drums (@:05) and distorted vocals/slide guitar melody @:11 to suggest gritty sports, sloppy camera work, motorcycle rides, Southern-/Bayou-tinged attitude, facial hair gone awry and anything mud-covered. Gets smaller but still swagger-filled @:30, then returns to the main mix/theme @1:04. And over. 85.01 bpm (Dmin)

Driving, attitudinal Dirtbag/Glam Rock cut that straight punches its way through the media clutter, delivering liver shots and hammer-fists to any vid that challenges it. Yes, we did just Google "wrestling terms" while eating a bowl of farro in our undies. A slick, slippery but gritty electric guitar riff opens up the cut, followed by uptempo, unrelenting drums, electric bass and even more electric guitars @:10, pummeling all-comers into submission. Pares down to a strutting, preening electric guitar- and drum-propelled trip down the catwalk @:32, returning to a full, assault-worthy mix @:52. Good for fights (WWE, boxing, MMA), swagger, action, cops, motorsports, all the other sports, parodies, fashion, dodging bullets while riding a leather motorcycle and when being an "Alpha"is too far down the alphabet for you. 97.52 bpm (Emin)

Tough, attitudinal and belligerent. This loping, huge-sounding distorted bass guitar-driven Hard Rock cut starts with an electric bass-driven riff that slowly rises in tenor to an explosion of deliberate, cymbal-smashing/pounding drums, blaring horns, enough guitars to deforest a rainforest and harmonica-like feedback (@:14) that sounds like someone slowed down a Funk cut by 50% and added oppressive amounts of body hair and body odor. Good for making a grand entrance (especially if you saunter, strut or have abnormally large genitalia but aren't a blue whale), sports, demanding attention or just striking fear into your opponents. 67.53 bpm (Dmin)

Having a party? I'm a little hurt that I found out this way. Indie, 70s-tinged tweentastic Swagger Rock that doesn't take itself too seriously. Starting with a couple of dramatic drum/guitar hits, the upbeat cut kicks in @:05 with drums, a multitude of electric guitars, electric bass, Farfisa organ and male vocals @:12 and @1:12. But going back to the party thing: why wasn't I invited? This relationship feels pretty one-sided. Great for beach vacations, road trips and sports involving partial nudity (surfing, not sumo). I'd call this a "non-stop lighthearted romp" if it weren't for all the breaks and stops. And speaking of breaks, I've been thinking these past couple of sentences: maybe we should see other people. 127.98 bpm (Emaj)

A new Rock hybrid: Lemmy Kravitz. A fast, gritty, unrelenting guitar-driven attack on your senses - with the exception of taste, smell, touch, sight and sometimes "Y." A tension-building, driving Rock intro with drums and pointy-sounding electric guitar that explodes into a louder more oppressive (in a good way) wall of machismo and sweat that's intensified by adding electric bass and cloudbanks of choir-like, bit-dithered synths to give the cut an imposing, full sound usually reserved for avalanches and government experiments. Good for sports, videos of beatings, fast cutting, exciting sports car test drives and if NASCAR races were sponsored by Adderall. 74.98 bpm (Amin)

Fast, playful PopPunk/GlamRock attitude, with tons of random-ish guitars popping out of the mix suggesting toughness mixed with unpredictability or hijinks. Starts with a semi-suspenseful building electric bass/guitar rise crashing into a driving guitar- and drum-driven onslaught @:10, with electric bass, synths, piano bass notes and brass/sax hits throughout. A smaller, darker bed @:34 removes the momentum, only to return to the full-speed mix @:58. Good for sports, light attitude, parties, vacations and general hullabaloo, which is a horrible name for someone in the military. 159.97 bpm (Bmin)

Swagger Rock, but with an air of restraint and sophistication. This cut combines the grit of overdriven electric guitars, drums and bass with the technological touches of looped samples, delayed shakers and sliding synths. Deliberate, mid-tempo Rock cut that is filled with stops/starts, cymbal hits and repeating motifs. Gets more driving and direct-sounding @:39 with a soloed drum section, building back up to the full mix @:56. Good for suggesting you're taking control, making a grand entrance, image spots or videogame bluster. 115.01 bpm (Gmin)

Advertising a pickup truck that can plow through muddy riverbeds/crowded schoolyards but also has satellite radio and a latte maker? AltCountry/AltFolk Rock grit/swagger, provided by acoustic guitars, pounding drums, stamps/clapping, electric bass/guitars and a sliding synth (starts @:19) that adds a level of modernity and fun to the cut. A synth-driven section @2:01 sounds almost futuristic/niteclub-esque. Various breaks and remixed sections provide plenty of forward-moving, looped beds perfect for suggesting toughness, roadtrips, growth/evolution and ecology/outdoors. 100 bpm (Amin)

Douche Rock. If this cut were a dude, he'd be a skinny, straggly-haired, unwashed, ripped jeans-wearing, dentist-avoiding, hotdog-smelling type - that dates supermodels. Fast, attitudinal, lean electric guitar-driven cut that's great for sports videos, fast action and wondering: maybe it's just because the hotdog smell attracts hungry models? Lean, uptempo electric guitar-driven cut that starts with an uptempo riff that adds drums @:05, kicking in fully @:10 with electric bass, guitar-based sound design and a mellower half-time break @:31 that pauses for a distorted scream @1:04 that ushers in the full-bore, driving mix. 89.97 bpm (Emin)

Seduction music. Names don't get more accurate than this David Lynch-ian ultra-sexy Blues Rock cue that feels like a combination of the laid-back smooth confidence and mystery of Lost Highway and Blue Velvet. At least until we found out that "velvet highway" is also slang for a sheep's genitalia. A mid-tempo electric bassline, finger snaps, sex-infused guitar glissandos, guiro, and tambourines. An innuendo-laden release of breath @:14 leads to a moderately propulsive feel, adding drums, confident guitars and tambourine. A time-is-passing feel starts @:31, slowly building in tenor back to the main mix @1:00. Good for swaggering sexuality, sensuality and comfortable, fluffy sex. 70.99 bpm (Amin)

Riff-driven Dirtbag Rock that pays homage to 70s guitar-heavy attitudinal sports-stadium anthems because it certainly isn't paying for things like soap or a membership in the Jane Austen Society. Overdriven guitars, electric bass and driving drums create the sense of empowerment and confidence. @:30 the cut provides a variety of loopable bed-like sections, that returns to the main riff/mix @1:15. Good for strutting/swagger, overcompensating for insecurities, and gritty/dirty sports like rugby, football, competitive sweating or whale rectal spelunking. 139.99 bpm (F#min)

Unrelenting drive, energy and encouragement. No matter the odds, difficulty or impossibility of the challenge, this unrelenting Rock cut says "you can do it!" Well, not literally. Its melody consists of a vocal repeating "whoa" rhythmically while train-like drums, walls of distorted guitars and electric bass create a forward-moving and uplifting cut appropriate for sports, training montages, inspirational images of people losing weight - or just stopping horses. This dynamic cut goes from a small, non-intrusive bed of activity to a full-on blast of in-your-face positive intensity. 99.99 bpm (Dmin)

An attitudinal brawling cut. A biker gang careens through a dusty town, knocking over coffee shop signs, filling the streets with loud motorcycle revving and drastically changing the local Tinder inventory. A chugging, 70s-tinged Rock electric guitar and shuffling acoustic drums create the base for this propulsive, mid-tempo cut that features intrusive guitar motifs, electric bass and successive explosive increases in excitement @:13 and @:19. An atmospheric harmonica adds a touch of the American West. The middle section provides a variety of smaller but still driving sections, culminating with the full mix @:55. Good for action, sports, gunfights, barroom brawls, showdowns and braggadocio. 113.90 bpm (Dmin)

Authoritative way of being cool/egotistical. The coolest guy in the world enters a bar and every head turns. Except Larry's, as the doctors had to fuse his c3 though c14 vertebrae, leaving him with the neck flexibility of a crocodile. Anthemic claps and drums create a slow, deliberate Blues/Rock feel for an attitudinal, overdriven, buzzy electric guitar hook, progressively adding more guitars, electric bass, organ and bass synths. A middle section @:34 provides a smaller, but still swagger-filled, head-nodding (except for Larry) bed of drums and muted guitars suggesting time passing or subtle tension that explodes back into the main cymbal-filled mix @1:06. Good for sports, image spots or suggesting something flashy/self-important is coming. 90 bpm (Emin)
