Malignant is very underscore. The electric bass plays a monotonous pedal tone while the piano plays just two notes back and forth. Written for mystery, suspense, searching, plotting, or a CSI investigation, there is a gnawing simplicity until finally the piano starts playing chords that create a tension against the plodding pedal notes.
